Exploring Different Layers of Mindfulness with Godfrey Devereux

One of the most frequently visiting specialist of Cihangir Yoga, Godfrey Devereux, invites you to explore the different layers of mindfulness in his five day long workshop between November 17-22. The workshop that starts with understanding mindfulness allows you to discover practicing mindfulness on the mat, the meditation cushion and daily life.

Open to all levels of yoga students.

November 17 Friday, Understanding Mindfulness – Free For Everyone

This talk will explore the dynamics and benefits of mindfulness as the heart of spiritual practice and joyful living.

November 18 Saturday,  Mindfulness on the Yoga Mat
10.00-13.30 and 15.00-18.00
This session will explore the power of deliberate movement and action as the foundation for cultivating everyday mindfulness.  Each session will use a sequence of yoga postures to invite deep mindfulness of action and movement.  Each practice will be followed by an exploration of the principles and mechanisms involved and how they can be applied in daily life.

November 19 Sunday, Mindfulness on the Meditation Cushion
10.00-13.30 and 15.00-18.00
A wandering mind is most easily focused by feeling the physical sensations that signal the presence of the body. This workshop will explore the power of physical sensations as the basis for mindfulness in meditation. You will be guided step by step through a sequence of meditations that establish, stabilize and deepen mindfulness.  Theoretical explorations of the dynamics and benefits of mindfulness will alternate with the meditations.

November 20 Monday, Mindfulness in Daily Life: The Body
This session will clarify and explore the role of physical sensations in establishing mindfulness in the flow and challenge of everyday life.

November 21 Tuesday, Mindfulness in Daily Life: Emotions
This session will  explore the role of  mindfulness in calming emotions and releasing the mind from anxiety.

November 22 Wednesday,  Mindfulness in Daily Life: Freedom
This session will  explore the significance of  mindfulness to spiritual freedom.
