Godfrey Devereux, a well-known expert in the world of yoga, is at Cihangir Yoga with a comprehensive mindfulness study on 16-20 November.
This deep workshop starts with understanding mindfulness and allows you to discover practicing mindfulness on the mat, on the meditation cushion, and in daily life.
Open to all levels of yoga students.
Hours count towards CY 300 Hour Transformative Yoga Path.
Economic, social and climate instability are all felt in the body. If they are not clearly acknowledged and their impact assimilated mind will become more and more restless, anxious and incoherent. This workshop will address the deep existential instability created by multiple external and uncontrollable crises over which the individual has no control. It will present the keys to establishing and maintaining a clear, calm, stable mind in the face of deep challenges.
November 16, Saturday: Mindfulness in action.

Your body provides you with the most simple, concrete way to quieten, clarify and calm your mind. The key to this possibility is the physical sensations it generates in movement and action. This workshop will show you how to use very simple, safe, accessible movements to focus and quieten your mind. These movements will be done the walking, standing, squatting, crouching, sitting and lying down. They are accessible by anyone able to walk upstairs unaided. Their ongoing practice will provide you with easily accessible pathways to a clear, calm mind.
November 17 Sunday: Mindfulness in stillness.

The subtle presence of your body offers a unique and potent opportunity to ground and integrate the restlessness of mind into the stability of its source. This workshop will show you how to use awareness of the breath and other internal rhythms to harness the restlessness of mind. Ongoing the repetition of these practices will gradually stabilize and quieten your mind even within the trials and tribulations of chaotic and challenging life events.
November 18, Monday: Mindful listening as the basis of solidarity.
Human beings are intensely social animals. We need a secure, reliable network of other people to feel safe enough to let go of our neurotic anxieties and judgments. The most powerful way that we can develop such a network is by learning to listen so that we really can hear. The key to this is the deep intimacy of somatic awareness. This allows us to not only hear but feel those we are listening to. This workshop will show you how to use your body to invite others to feel safe in your presence.
November 19, Tuesday: Mindful communicating as self-validation.
To feel safe enough for the mind to let go deeply you need to know that you can be, and are being, heard. To be truly heard you yourself need to be in touch with what you are most deeply feeling. Then you need to have the confidence and trust to express it openly and honestly. This workshop will show you how to use your body to both find out what you are most deeply feeling, and find the simple, clear and concrete words that allow you to be clearly heard.
November 20, Wednesday: Mindful relationship as the key to satisfaction.
Relationship, of all kinds, is a two-way flow. You need to listen and you need to be heard. You need to be understood and you need to understand. You need to be loved and you need to love. This workshop will present you with simple games with simple protocols to establish and develop satisfying relationships based on what you are really feeling, needing and wanting.
