At Cihangir Yoga most teachers have been trained by studio founders David Cornwell and Zeynep Aksoy in the lineage of Dynamic yoga by Godfrey Devereux. This method incorporates elements of Ashtanga and Iyengar, bandha, meditation and breath awareness. The practice is physical alignmnent orientated with flow and emphasis upon meditation and breath. You can expect the teacher to guide you through many postures in one class including sun-salutations, inversions and a short seated meditation. Cihangir Yoga has recieved internatlal recognition by the International Yoga Network and for many years has hosted world renowned teachers including Shiva Rea, Tias Little, Godfrey Devereux, David Life and Sharon Gannon amongst others.
Other styles at Cihangir Yoga include Yin Yoga as taught by students of Paul Grilley, Anusara Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Pregnancy Yoga, childrens yoga, Ashtanga and pilates.

Do teachers speak English?
Cihangir Yoga studio is set up to run a full service for English and Turkish speakers. Almost all teachers are bilingual. Upon request they will teach in English. For English only classes attend David Cornwell and Kate Beckel. Please call the studio for up to date information.

Do the staff speak english?
We have 2 members of staff working at reception. Their english is limited but there is always somebody in the studio who can help.  When you arrive you will be given an orientation handout that will familiarize you with Cihangir Yoga.

Which class should I start with?
If you are brand new to yoga you should start with the Beginner Classes. For non Turkish speakers the best teachers to begin learning yoga with are Zeynep Celen, Zeynep Aksoy and Andrew Zionts.
After 10 classes you can start to attend the other classes. Once you feel you are ready to progress to a more difficult level ask your teachers for advice. Every student progresses at a different rate so there is no need to rush .

What price is a class?
Cihangir Yoga for many years has been the lowest price yoga studio in istanbul while offering the best service and the most classes.
For first time members we have an introductory offer. 100tl for 1 month, unlimited classes. After this there are many options from limited class packages to unlimited monthly or yearly memberships. Some as little as 24TL per week for unlimited attendance over 100 classes per week.
All prices include use of the sauna for free.
We also have 5tl drop in classes taught by students on our teacher training program.

What is the difference between an unlimited membership vs limited class packets?
With limited class packets you can attend a limited number of classes and use the sauna before or after your class. With unlimited membership you can attend as many classes as you like and use the sauna any time. Limited class packs and unlimited memberships include free use of yoga equipment. Workshops are not included.
Towels are 2tl.

What should I wear?
You should wear loose comfortable clothing. T shirt and shorts. Yoga classes are barefoot.

Do I need to bring a yoga mat?
Yoga mats are provided in the studio. There is no rental charge.

Are there lockers in Cihangir Yoga?
Yes we provide lockers for you to lock your valuables. However you need to bring your own padlock. If there are no lockers available please bring your valuables into the studio.

Are there showers in Cihangir Yoga?
There are showers at the studio.You can rent a towel for 2tl

Can I use the sauna?
Sauna use is included in your membership., You can rent big towels for the sauna for 2tl. Sauna is opened in the early morning, afternoon and evening. Click here for sauna opening hours.

Can I eat before class?
If you need to eat, eat lightly. It is not good to come into class very hungry or full.

Can I get consultation on detox, diet and nutrition?

Yes we have a qualified American Naturopath working at Cihangir Yoga who can give you full advice on complimentary health programs including diet and detox.

Is there massage at Cihangir Yoga?
Yes, we have a full massage menu and massage prices are the lowest in Istanbul. Book by making an appointment.
